If it’s raining where you live (like here!), don’t let the gloominess get you down. You can still have romance in the rain. Here are some ideas for you and your sweetheart to do at home while it’s raining outside, as well as some outdoors ideas to do in the rain!

If you want to stay in:

1. Rent a romantic movie or watch TV.
2. Cook a meal together.
3. Watch old home videos, especially from childhood.
4. Everyone’s a collector: Rummage through drawers and closets for old papers, documents and trinkets.
5. Have a juice party: using a blender and an exotic collection of foods, mix your own drinks!
6. Look at old pictures.
7. Bake cookies together – enjoy them with hot cocoa if it’s a cold day outside.
8. Go through your CD collection and make a mix.
9. Have a pillow fight.
10. Play a board game or a card game together.
11. Do the crossword or jumble in the newspaper.
12. Play a video game against each other – on computer or game console.
13. If you have a musical instrument like a guitar or piano, play favourite songs or learn how to play them.
14. Paint – pictures with water colors, or redecorate and paint a room!
15. Clean up a room or wash the dishes together.
16. Do laundry together.
17. Depending on whose house you are in, have a fashion show with old clothes hanging in you/your date’s closet!
18. Light the fireplace and have tea.

If you want to be daring:

1. Walk or run through a park in the rain while holding hands.
2. Kissing in the rain is always nice.
3. Take a stroll on the street using one umbrella. (See picture.)
4. Camp out in the backyard and keep each other cozy!
5. Sit out in the patio together, watch and listen to the rain drops.
6. Don’t forget to turn on romantic music for #5, preferrably jazz piano.

Remember, sometimes, the most simple things are the most romantic.
