Because you might get arrested! That’s right, arrested! I bet you didn’t know that, didcha? (Me neither.)
The Smoking Gun reports that a mother called police because her young boy opened his Christmas present early despite of her specific instruction not to, uhh, open it early. The boy ended up getting charged with “petty larceny.” Her reasoning:
In an interview with The Herald newspaper, the boy’s mother, a 27-year-old single parent, described her son as a disruptive child, noting that she hoped his arrest would serve as a corrective to disorderly behavior at school and home.
OK seriously? Arresting your own son because you decided to buy him an expensive gift and make him wait weeks until he gets to have it. I’m sure you’ve stolen candy out of your dietician’s bowl even though it’s forbidded because you weigh like 500lbs. What kind of mother would do this to her child? It’s bad enough that you can’t discipline your own kid, but to have the cops do it for you and make headlines is just ultimate bad parenting. You’re just giving him a criminal record that will haunt him for the rest of his life. Imagine him applying for a job and having to explain to his potential employer about his record. “Err, my mom had me arrested cuz I opened the X-mas present early.” Yeapp! He’s going places.
