in: Love

Valentine's Date Do's and Dont's | niquehappy.comIf you’re one of the lovey dovey people in love or just going on a fresh new date with a fresh new someone, here are some tips to follow on your date so it won’t be that Valentine’s date you want to forget.

Do’s

  1. Do not be late on the first date itself. It gives a very bad impression about you.
  2. Make your partner feel comfortable, even if you are feeling like a bag of nerves.
  3. Make sure that throughout the date, you attention is on the other person. Maintain eye contact and be genuinely interested in him/her.
  4. Strike up an interesting conversation.
  5. Be confident of yourself and be yourself. Portraying as someone you are not is not going to win you any brownie points.
  6. Click for more..
  7. Do feel free to laugh. A guy will appreciate a girl be comfortable with herself.
  8. Do let the guy pick up the bill. Even though we’re all about equality, but the guy would want to feel he’s in charge.
  9. If he dressed nice (and here’s hoping he did), let him know. Guys like a little ego boost now and again too.
  10. Guys: Slide one sensitive topic about yourself into conversation and ask your date’s opinion about it. This moment will be more memorable than the pricey dim sum or your canned jokes, since it’s laced with trust, sincerity and vulnerability.
  11. Guys: Pay your date a very specific compliment that shows you’re paying attention. Nice eyes? She’s heard it. Cute dimples? Much better.

Dont’s

  1. Do not keep on talking on your cell phone for half of the evening. It looks very rude.
  2. Do not start looking at the other guys/gals around. It is very insulting for the other person.
  3. Do not eat with your mouth open. Maintain basic etiquettes.
  4. Do not smell bad. Body odor and bad breath can be major turn offs.
  5. Do not ask too many personal questions or keep on talking about yourself only.
  6. Do not get drunk. Being tipsy is fun, but don’t be yacking all over the place!
  7. Ladies: Do not order the most expensive item on the menu! Don’t want the guy to think you’re taking advantage of him.
  8. Ladies: Don’t go overboard on your make-up, even if you have a blemish. A small, hardly noticeable spot on your chin is infinitely preferable to the kabuki mask you slather on in your efforts to hide that you are in fact a human being.
  9. A great date involves balance in the conversation: don’t talk too much or too little about yourself. Going overboard in either direction can paint you as too self-involved or too self-protective.
  10. Don’t mention ex-boyfriends/girlfriends.
