Moving on from a dead relationship isn’t an easy thing to do, but it’s not impossible either. It’s especially harder for women to do so because women are just generally more emotional than men. But the important thing here is that you don’t think about what happened, and try to distract yourself by surrounding yourself with your dear friends, going out, and embracing the life you’ve often missed while you were with your former love.

Here are some suggestions to help you move along and not look back:

1. Hang out with friends. Often times, people disappear from their circle of friends once they find someone. Now is a good time to re-connect with the friends you haven’t seen for a while.
2. Be open to potential mates. Don’t mope around with the “I just got off a relationship” sign on your forehead. That defeats the purpose. Even if you are not ready for someone new, you should still consider blowing off that melancholy cloud over your head. It’ll make you a much happier person.
3. Go shopping. Buy stuff for yourself. Pamper yourself because, hey, you’ve given so much into that old relationship that you probably didn’t leave too much room for yourself. Now is the time. It’s good to be independent.
4. Go places and see new things. Open up to what the world has to offer. Museums, parks, amusement parks, downtown, etc.
5. Dating. I know this may not be on your mind right now, but trust me, it’s the only way for you to forget your ex. Meeting and dating someone new will automatically make you forget about your old troubles and any past relationships. Remember, you can always find someone better!
6. Be picky. While being open to potential new mates, at the same time, it’s important to know what works and what doesn’t, basing on your previous relationships. This could be a lesson to be learned. You certainly don’t want to make the same mistakes again. Take notes in your mind what you want and what you don’t want for your future love.
