This is a response to all the Tyra Banks fans who have been emailing and leaving comments defending Tyra on all the posts about her going nuts with pictures of her without makeup. You’re creeping us out a little. First of all, she doesn’t even know you exist, and second of all, you must understand Tyra is probably one of the biggest hypocrites in town.
OK so she gained some weight. Big deal. OK we get it. She’s a wonderful human being. Some of you even said “she cares about us.” I’m sorry, but - Tyra only cares about Tyra, and that means publicity, ratings, and $$$.
But did she ever become a hot, popular supermodel and make millions of dollars if she were 5 feet tall and weighed 300 lbs? NO. She made money being stick skinny and wore tons of makeup. She didn’t campaign for overweight people back then now did she? But when the media says she’s fat, she went psycho? Give us a break. All she’s doing is trying to get more women to watch her shows, so she has to do stuff to appeal to as many women as she can - whether they’re big, small, fat, skinny, tall, short.
She always preaches: “be yourself, accept you for who you are, embrace your inner beauty” blablabla. But what did she do on the next show? Re-create the Sports Illustrated cover and make herself look skinny like she did 10 years ago. How ironic. Talk about “accept yourself for who you are.” That’s not all. She hosts a modeling contest show for Pete’s sake, where she makes these girls do all sorts of stupid things that have nothing to do with being themselves or happy with who they are. “You have to walk like this, you have to put on some attitude, you have to twirl like that.” Uh huh.
You are all entitled to your opinions, but please, people - think a little harder before you go psycho on us. The day we “believe in Tyra” is the day her America’s Next Top Model show crowns a girl who’s NOT 5′9 and weighs 80 lbs.

You echoed my exact sentiments about Tyra! I felt that she was ultra sensitive about the tabloid calling her fat and did go psycho over it. Afterward, she must have gone on a crash diet to lose that weight and then kept wearing this red bikini on her show while bawling about how the tabloids were being bad in calling her fat etc… I feel that she is a definite hypocrite and didn’t practice what she preached. If she tells everyone to embrace their own body image at whatever weight that they are, then she shouldn’t be that mad and upset when tabloid magazines called her fat. Instead she did what you described above and recreated her Sport Ill. cover just to prove that she is still in the same shape like she was 10 years ago. Of course, she would have the best photographer, hair, makeup artist, lighting to help her look skinnier than she was . I think Tyra is like Oprah, she keeps yoyo back and forth with her weight. She should embrace her extra weight like she’s been telling women who watch her show.
