Gwen Stefani is supposed to be a “fashion designer” (who probably never even went to fashion design school, just like the rest of Hollywood stars who are all wannabes) but here she is spotted in West Village, CA looking like that dude from Footlocker. Or Kelly Clarkson. OK, so stripes is your thing. We get it. There should be a law against blinding people with their outfits. I can almost hear it now - You are getting verryyy dizzzzy, sleeeepy, hungrrrryyyyy.

Shell never be more than any other chick who pretends shes talented, caught a sucker, married him, had a kid and walks around with airs.
But she’s more than a harajuku girl, at least.
please id rather be a harajuku girl….at least they have talent……unlike her
From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harajuku):
“Harajuku is an area between Shinjuku and Shibuya. Local landmarks include the headquarters of NHK, Meiji Shrine, and Yoyogi Park.
The area has two main shopping streets, OmotesandÅ and Takeshita-dÅri. The latter caters to youth fashions and has many small stores selling Gothic Lolita, visual kei, rockabilly, hip-hop, and punk outfits,[2] in addition to fast food outlets and so forth.
The term “Harajuku Girls” has been used by English-language media to describe teenagers dressed in any fashion style who are in the area of Harajuku.[7] These girls may be members of various sub-cultures including Gothic and Lolita, Ganguro, Gyaru, and Kogal. They may also be dressed as characters from from an anime, movie, or manga (known as cosplay).
In the 1980s large numbers of street performers and wildly dressed teens including takenoko-zoku (竹ã®åæ, “bamboo-shoot kids”) gathered on OmotesandÅ and the street that passes through Yoyogi Park on Sundays when the steets were closed to traffic. The streets were reopened to traffic in the 90s. Small groups of rockabillies and gosurori still gather on Sundays.
Visual kei is associated with Harajuku, especially those who gather on “Jingu Bashi (âJingu Bridgeâ), a pedestrian bridge connecting the bustling Harajuku district with Meiji Shrine.” [1] In attendence one will find Visual kei cosplayers (those dressed as their favorite bands) and those in the Gothic Lolita subculture/fashion.”
Aaaand again from Wikipedia, regarding Gwen’s Harajuku Girls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harajuku_Girls):
“”Harajuku Girls” is the title of 7th track of Gwen Stefani’s 2004 album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby.'’
“Harajuku girl” redirects here, for general fashion and subculture in Harajuku, Japan, see Harajuku.
The Harajuku Girls performing on the Harajuku Lovers Tour 2005.The Harajuku Girls are four young women who were hired in 2004 as backup dancers for American singer Gwen Stefani’s Love. Angel. Music. Baby. album. The “Harajuku Girls” have continued to appear alongside Stefani, and are featured in the music videos for “What You Waiting For?”, “Rich Girl”, “Hollaback Girl”, “Luxurious”, “Crash”, “Wind It Up”, “The Sweet Escape”, and “Now That You Got It”. They have also toured with Stefani.
No term corresponding to “Harajuku girl” is currently used in Japan for girls who frequent Harajuku (known as a center for teen and avant garde fashions; see Harajuku). The “Harajuku Girls” represent “Stefani’s interpretation of Tokyo street fashion in the Harajuku district”.[1]
Stefani has drawn criticism for her use of the Harajuku Girls, who some commentators see as promoting negative stereotypes of Asian females.”
Considering Gwen writes her own music and lyrics, it is her talent that invented the “Harajuku Girls” (”Harajuku Girls”) being the four girls that make up Gwen’s entourage). Without her the “Harajuku Girls” would be nothing and non-existant. Now if you mean that the girls in the place Harajuku have more talent in the way that they dress versus Gwenny… I’ve seen pictures and some of it is pretty inventive, but I could pull the same thing off for Halloween or a masquerade party.
well thanks for the history lesson….i already know about it. but all of gwens songs sound the same….they all sound like “holla back girl”….and she dosent write all her own songs…there are plenty of people credited to writing them.
Sure, anytime. I love backing up my comments with facts that other people can go check out for themselves. It shows that I’m not just spouting off with immature dribble.
On the “Love.Angel.Music.Baby” CD (which I have in my hand right now), Gwen is credited with writing 9 out of the 12 songs, with artistic credit on the other three songs. She also wrote most of the songs for No Doubt, using her real-life relationships in the band (Ex-Boyfriend for example) as her inspiration for the songs. Call me crazy, but that seems pretty damn talented to me.
So how exactly do the Harajuku Girls have more talent than Gwen?
she is a cunt……there you go
Gosh, you must really hate her to call her a cunt. That’s pretty extreme. Did she run your puppy over with her fancy sportscar or something to make you hate her so much? I mean, without a really good reason to call someone a cunt (like for example, calling me a cunt because I’m egging this on would be understandable) just makes you sound like you’re jealous of her. Are you jealous of her? I’m sure lots of women are… She has tons of money, a hot husband and an adorable baby, with millions of fans around the world. Oh, and she’s gorgeous when she’s all made up. What’s not to be jealous of?
nope not jealous of a FAKE ass talentless cunt. It sickens me how self absorbed she is and her fans by it…her clothing line is grotesque and its expensive as fuck and the bitch has her own chapstick…is that necessary enough is enough stop selling out. She was better as Just Gwen from No Doubt….and Gavin really has lost his sexy ways since he got with her. Where the hell is he? wheres his music? Her baby looks just like britneys babys if you put the pictures together they do.
I wish Gwen would have just stayed in No Doubt; her current single works are absolutely horrible. And not only that, her ‘Harajyuku’ fashion is way off, and her Harajyuku girls are not even FROM Harajyuku. Go figure. And yes, the REAL way to spell Harajyuku is just that..Harajyuku. NOT Harajuku.
Whahah Gwen sux.
Most REAL harajuku girls AND guys HATE her.
Why?
Because her view on harajuku is WRONG.
REAL harajuku looks NOTHING like what she shows us.
Those girls around her look NOTHING
like real girls on harajuku street.
And she is NOT orginal.
Do you know how many people were already aware of REAL harajuku before she came with that fake crap of her?
I’m sick of all those stupid girls shouting around HOMG IM A HARAJUKU GIRL. Because they wear some stupid shirt.
I have been into Japanese street fashion for years now. Its agravating that Gwen is getting sole credit for being so “trendy” and ahead of her time, blah blah blah.
We dress how we do because its fun and cute! And it matches who we are on the inside.
If anything the anime lovers and convention goers were ahead of the trend years ago and still are.
Then the fashion started catching on in rave culture and dress and style, then so forth into more “mainstream”.
The only reason this seems so “new” is because its still like an underground movement with her now acting as a figure head of everything trendy and japanese. *sigh*
Having it become such a mainstream trend has its up and downs.
Upside:
More clothes to cater to your own style of street fashion.
-Since its not imported like other high end Japanese labels it costs less.
Bottom Line: Easier to buy those types of clothes
Downside:
-Becoming a teen trend that may well be seen everywhere.
-Thats aggravating to people who have really been into this, it was somthing special for us. Somthign to set us apart from the norm. Somthing different and creative and expressive.
-Japanese nockoffs will be made of poor quality.
-Most people wont really understand where it came out of, or even why culturaly Japanese street fashion arose. They wont care or respect that part of another culture.
-Youll be able to just buy it at hot topic and follow the “new” trend.
One more upside. The cool people with the headsup, who actually take an active interest in this and not wait for it to be mainstreamed: We will ALWAYS be ahead of that curve.
So go ahead and credit this shit to Gwen and her ho harem of hussys, but remember, shes just another fan, who RECENTLY got into this. Its a passing trend for her. Be sure
oh you r all so cultured after reading 5 lines of wikipedia information about harajuku fashion or googling it too..
