Leighton Meester Shops Till It Stops

Leighton Meester showed up to the Marshalls’ 15th annual “Shop Til It Stops” in New York City yesterday. It sounds all fashion-y but really, it’s a campaign against domestic violence.

According to ContactMusic:

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester took to the red carpet in New York on Thursday (02Oct08) to take a stand against domestic violence. The actress hopes to raise awareness of the abuse women suffer at the hands of a violent partner, and spoke out in support of the 15th annual Shop ‘Til It Stops campaign - which raises funds for the cause through retail sales. And Meester insists she was moved to take part in the drive, because the topic can effect everyone. She tells People.com, “I think it’s an issue that everyone can take part in because it applies to everyone. You can be a victim or someone you love can be a victim. The more people are aware, the more it can be prevented. She adds, “You can be a victim or someone you love can be a victim. The more people are aware, the more it can be prevented.”

Leighton also donated a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes to the campaign. Ehh, I think she’s too young to worry about this type of serious issues. Should just stick to what she knows. Like whoring herself out to rich dukes, scheming and blackmailing friends, and sabotaging her own mother’s fashion show just to get what she wants. Oh wait, I’m getting her mixed up with Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl.
